MINI-WORKSHOP ONHYBRID TECHNOLOGIES FOR
|
Abstract:
Emerging hybrid accelerator technologies such as GPUs and multi-core systems are becoming ubiquitous in High Performance systems for scientific and engineering applications. Early adopters have demonstrated some significant gains in performance for specific applications. However, these experiments have also made it clear that a significant re-engineering effort is required to efficiently map the applications to these new architectures in order to exploit the underlying resources to the fullest extent. The focus of this workshop is to explore the future trends of these hybrid technologies and the opportunities that they offer for NASA applications. In addition, the workshop speakers will provide perspectives on software approaches and programming methodologies to overcome the challenges presented by the systems. The workshop will also include presentations from researchers in the domain of space applications describing their experiences with using such technologies.
